Dreadful rule preventing young people from playing hockey
There are rules that are not unanimous, but when it comes to denying children the opportunity to play hockey, it's unacceptable.
That's what happened in Rivière-du-Loup, where a neighbor filed an official complaint to prevent children from playing hockey in the street.
It's totally unacceptable. That's where the passion for the game begins. We're not talking about a main thoroughfare here, but rather a small neighborhood street.
"A representative from the city of Rivière-du-Loup told a father that he could receive a fine if his children played hockey in the street again. More details on ICI Radio-Canada Bas-Saint-Laurent."
It seems this isn't the only place where this has happened. There are reports that other 18-year-olds have been fined for the same reason. They're not drinking alcohol in a park; they're playing hockey...
It's outrageous. I can't understand how someone could be so unhappy as to file a complaint against children playing hockey in the street. Personally, I learned to love this sport that way, and I smile when I see my children or other children playing in the street.
"Parents on Agnès-Giguère Street in Rivière-du-Loup are angry. A city representative visited the neighborhood last week to warn them that their children were not allowed to play hockey in the street due to an official complaint made by one or more residents of the neighborhood. Details on the Ciel Fm website."
Even worse, how can there be a rule that prohibits this? How can we side with the person making the complaint? In a world where technology is omnipresent and it's difficult to get our children outside, do we want to confine them even more?
When it comes to preventing our children from playing hockey in the street, we have a serious societal problem.
