Jessica Campbell's Big Statement About Shea Weber and the Canadiens
The Seattle Kraken are visiting the Bell Centre tonight to face the Canadiens and it will be the very first time that the building will see a woman act as an assistant coach in the National Hockey League with the presence of Jessica Campbell behind the visitors' bench.
Obviously this represents a major event and for the occasion, the Antichambre team on RDS welcomed the new Kraken coach and she was well accompanied on set.
Another pioneer in the field of hockey, a certain Manon Rhéaume, was also present and Campbell wanted to tell her in person that it is thanks to her that she wanted to become a professional hockey player and that she dreamed of one day wearing the uniform of the Montreal Canadiens.
But one of the moments that caught the attention of the show was when Campbell said NHL players had hired her in the past to teach them skating techniques.
At least that's what she said, and her clients included two former Olympic gold medalists in Brent Seabrook and former Canadiens captain Shea Weber.
This is a great show of recognition from the two former NHL defensemen and also demonstrates the great evolution of women's hockey in Canada.
Jessica Campbell, 32, was named assistant coach with the Seattle Kraken last July, becoming the first woman to hold this position in the NHL.
