It is with great sadness that we learned of the deaths of Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau, both struck by a drunk driver.

Since Thursday night's accident, we have received many details, including how the scene unfolded and information about the two brothers' wives and their families.

One notable aspect is that Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were highly respected, and their wives are showing remarkable strength. It is incredible to see them coping with this tragedy.

Johnny Gaudreau's death: The long-awaited answer is now known

Johnny Gaudreau had 5 years remaining on his contract, valued at $9.75 million per season. Simon-Olivier Lorange summarized the situation well, noting that the Blue Jackets are now completely relieved of his contract.

While this is currently a secondary concern for everyone, including the organization, it remains that they are no longer obligated to $9.75 million.

For Johnny Gaudreau's family, there is life insurance in place for such situations. While it is unlikely they will receive the full amount of his contract, they will receive some compensation.
