Kent Hughes will visit Ivan Demidov in Russia to see him in action
Ivan Demidov is a very special young player and he will be good, very good when he arrives in the NHL, as he has 10 points in 17 games in the KHL.
This is not a league for kids, it is an excellent league, the second best in the world, and Ivan is starting to look very good, especially because he hardly plays.
According to Nicolas Cloutier, a source close to Ivan Demidov confirmed to him that the prospect has refused three contract offers from SKA and they have decided to nail him to the bench for that reason.
"Was Ivan Demidov nailed to the bench because he refused, three times, a contract extension from SKA St. Petersburg last month?" At least that is what a source close to the entourage of the Montreal Canadiens prospect reports behind the scenes. » - TVA Sports
It's such a shame to waste a young man's potential like this, but we can understand the organization, which wants to grow with its players who want to get involved in the longer term.
So we shouldn't worry too much about his points haul, because it's not representative. He only plays four minutes in some games, which is a real joke if you ask me.
Kent Hughes will therefore go, with his acolytes, to see him in action in Russia. A trip that was planned as soon as he was acquired in the draft, and which will happen in the coming weeks.
Elliotte Friedman, on the Habs' management planning to visit Ivan Demidov soon:
"As soon as the Montreal Canadiens drafted him, they planned that at some point during the season, they would go see him, visit him, check on him and see how he's doing. They're planning that trip now.
It will take place in the next few weeks or eventually. They will go see (Ivan Demidov) play, perform, train and see with their own eyes how he is doing. The Montreal Canadiens and their general manager Kent Hughes will go see him."

It shows a lot of class on the part of the organization, and a lot of consideration for the young man, who also shows it to the Canadiens.
Remember that he has refused three contract extension offers, so he is under pressure and he still performs, when he is on the ice.
