Marc Bergevin has been the general manager of the Canadiens for over 10 years. He could very well return to his former roles, as his name is circulating widely.

Indeed, he's well-known in the NHL and has already been linked to the Penguins and the Maple Leafs for the general manager position. Ultimately, the Penguins chose Kyle Dubas and the Leafs chose Brad Treliving. In both cases, the change didn't bring much improvement.

Currently an assistant to GM Rob Blake in Los Angeles, Bergevin could potentially take his place. The Kings have been eliminated in the first round by the Oilers in their last three playoff appearances.

Add to that the disastrous acquisition and signing of Pierre-Luc Dubois, and you understand why his position is far from guaranteed.

According to the team captain, Anze Kopitar, changes are needed upstairs. This speaks volumes about the players' mindset. Starting next year, the highest-paid player on the team will be Dubois.

"Anze Kopitar on possible roster or front office changes, 'Your guess is as good as mine.'" - Russell Morgan

Even Kopitar himself will weigh $1.5 million less on the salary cap, which is considerable, especially considering that the captain produces much more than Dubois, and is utilized in all situations.

A quick reset is necessary in L.A., and Marc Bergevin has proven in the past that he is the perfect candidate for this role. Additionally, he's a good friend of the current President, Luc Robitaille.
