Paris Olympic games: An athlete is hospitalized and there is shock
The Olympics is the biggest sports event of the year, but we never wish for anyone to get injured or end up in the hospital.
In the case of Belgian triathlete Claire Michel, it wasn't an injury that sent her to the hospital but rather an infection.
A few days after competing in the Seine, the young woman was struck by an infection, with the quality of the water being suspected.
This has been a topic of discussion for several days, as everyone questions whether the Seine was suitable for the competition.
"BREAKING: Belgian triathlete Claire Michel has just been hospitalized due to E.coli infection days after her first swim in the Seine unfortunately this means the Belgian team has to forfeit their place in tomorrow's Triathlon."
She is currently the only one affected by the infection, but if the water quality is indeed an issue, she will likely not be the only one.
It is disastrous for the athlete and for the entire Belgian triathlon team. An investigation is underway, but for now, we sincerely hope that Claire Michel makes a swift recovery from this infection.
