Touching testimony from Bob Hartley related to the tragic accident involving Johnny Gaudreau
Bob Hartley was Johnny Gaudreau's first head coach in the NHL, and he got to know both the player and the person very well.
Following the tragedy that took Johnny's life on Thursday night, the former coach poured his heart out on BPM Sports.
According to Hartley, not only was Johnny an exceptional player, but he was also a person of great character.
This all happened because of a drunk driver who was in too much of a hurry and decided to make a very dangerous maneuver. He rear-ended the Gaudreau brothers, leaving them with no chance.
As Bob Hartley aptly put it, this is a huge loss for the hockey world, as Johnny Gaudreau had exceptional talent. But it's also a significant loss in losing such a great person.
"It's not when you talk about Johnny Gaudreau the hockey player that I sense the most emotion from you, Bob, it's when you talk about Johnny Gaudreau the person."
- Martin Lemay
Bob Hartley is an extraordinary person himself, so he knows how to recognize another. It's clear that Johnny Hockey made a lasting impact on many lives.
Our deepest condolences once again to the loved ones of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.
