There are a few events like this where the commissioner appears in person, notably during the All-Star weekend and the Winter Classic.
We rarely see him in photos outside of his interviews, but here's one that's causing controversy. Many fans even find it unacceptable.
While everyone thinks he doesn't want a Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup, a rumor that's been circulating for many years, even decades, he posed with a Florida Panthers fan.
The fact that he seems really friendly with this fan and that the timing is really bad, during the Stanley Cup Final involving the Panthers and a Canadian team, the Oilers, is in my opinion unacceptable.
Even if it's not the case, it shows everyone that he has a bias, which is completely ridiculous. We never see commissioners of other leagues acting like this, not even for minor leagues.
I am personally disappointed to see this, and I'm not an Oilers fan. Imagine if he had done the same with a Lightning fan in 2021 when the Canadiens made it to the final. It would have caused an uproar.
We desperately need a change of leadership in the NHL. Bettman has been there too long, and it seems like his decisions are getting worse and worse.
