Analyst Confirms Arber Xhekaj Will Be Traded
Since you are listening to the game between the Canadiens and the Washington Capitals, you probably noticed that Arber Xhekaj is absent.
The great defender of the Sheriff in Quebec is called Georges Laraque and he once again made a notable appearance on BPM Sports.
On the Laraque & Gonzalez show, the former hockey player expressed his skepticism about this strategy, believing that Xhekaj would have been useful to counter the robustness of some Washington players, such as McIlrath and Wilson.
Laraque, known for his outspokenness, even proposed that Xhekaj be traded, because his absence in a game with such physical intensity questions his role in the team.
"Arber Xhekaj is going to be traded. Forget it! Look at the team: McIlrath, Duhaime and Tom Wilson... In Washington. Even if we agree that defensively he could do better, if we don't use Xhekaj in a road game that you have three guys who are going to shake things up and make a difference, who are you going to use him against? Against the Ice Capades?!
If he doesn't play, Xhekaj is absolutely useless. Trade him.
A coach has to analyze the lineup on the other side and analyze the strengths. He has to tell himself in Washington with the guys who are there, the physical elements, do I have something to put out the fire if it starts? You want to protect your team. He doesn't put anyone in, the Canadiens are going to get intimidated.
I'm not debating with you that from a hockey point of view, there may be defensemen who deserve more than him, but if he doesn't play today, he's useless. Trade him so we can move on!" - Georges Laraque This strategic absence therefore fuels transaction rumors.
Could the Canadiens really consider getting rid of their robust defenseman?
A case to follow, but that would be surprising.
