First of all, Julien Gauthier and Adam Beckman, who were placed on the market yesterday, were not claimed by the other teams of the NHL.
It was an opportunity for teams to acquire them for free, but none took this opportunity.
Julien Gauthier, who some saw as a potential candidate for a role on a fourth line, will therefore continue his career in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he collected 10 points in 17 games during the previous season.
We wish him good luck and we hope he gets another opportunity with Patrick Roy's squad this season.
Beckman, meanwhile, was sent to the Utica Comets.
On Monday, October 21, a new player appeared on the waivers: Matthew Highmore, a 28-year-old striker. This 5-foot-11, 186-pound winger was traded for Adam Gaudette in 2021.
He had 29 points in 146 NHL games, including 12 goals.
Known for his effectiveness on a fourth line, Highmore also shone in the AHL, amassing 31 points in 43 games, then 61 points in 68 games during his last two seasons.
Remember that the Montreal Canadiens, until November 1, benefit from high priority in claiming players.
But everything indicates, barring a surprise, that they will move on to Highmore.
