Jesperi Kotkaniemi involved in one of the biggest trades of the decade with elite forward Elias Pettersson?
The former Montreal Canadiens player, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, is in the midst of trade rumors that could be one of the biggest in recent years.
The only trade that would surpass it would be the one involving Matthew Tkachuk for Jonathan Huberdeau. It's truly massive.
According to David Pagnotta, discussions have indeed taken place between the Canucks and the Hurricanes regarding Elias Pettersson. Vancouver would have acquired Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Martin Necas, among others.
«According to multiple sources, the #Canucks and Hurricanes had discussions about Elias Pettersson that advanced to a stage where both he and VAN needed to make serious decisions about where their relationship was headed.» #CauseChaos
«VAN ultimately decided in favour of another attempt at extending him, and he allowed his agents to resume talks.»
«No extension is complete at this time, but there certainly is momentum in that direction.»

"I believe names like Martin Necas and Jesper Kotkaniemi were discussed from Carolina's end. This first occurred over week ago, prior to my initial contract offer report last week."

It's truly massive, confirming that if no agreement is reached between the Canucks and the Swede, he will be traded.
It's not every day that we see a player of his caliber available on the market. A transaction involving him would be simply exceptional.
