Kris Letang is 36, Evgeni Malkin is 37, Erik Karlsson is 33... it's becoming an aging core, and even though they're all future Hall of Famers, they're no longer keeping up with the pace.
I wish I could say it's a surprise, but it's not. The Penguins have missed their mark, and in my humble opinion, they should have started their rebuild two years ago, before the signings of Malkin and Letang.
Crosby will be 37 this summer, and there's still good hockey left in him. Players at the end of their careers who can produce a point per game are a rare commodity.
According to the X IB The Gambler account, Sidney Crosby could head to Toronto this summer. He has one year left on his contract at $8.7 million.
If you doubt this source, you should reconsider. It was the first to announce very important news throughout the NHL, even concerning the Montreal Canadiens.
It's Mitch Marner who would head to Pittsburgh in exchange for Sidney Crosby. It's immediately understood that no one will ever be able to replace #87 in Pittsburgh, not even in 50 years.
However, Marner could help kick off the rebuild with an elite player still in his prime.
So the question arises. Knowing that a rebuild is inevitable for the Pens, would you trade Crosby?
