About two months after the events that led the Blackhawks to terminate his contract, Corey Perry is already back with an NHL team, namely the Oilers.

It's quite a turnaround for him. While he was playing with one of the worst teams in the league, he is now with the team of the moment and playing with the best player in the world.

We knew that the NHL Players' Association might want to challenge Perry's contract termination by the Blackhawks to avoid setting a precedent, but we haven't had any updates for weeks.

Plot twist, as Gary Bettman provided additional information on this matter.

"Bettman reveals that Corey Perry has a grievance pending - but not filed - against the #Blackhawks because he said Perry feels they did not have proper grounds to terminate his contract.

According to CBA, player/NHLPA have 60 days to file."

As his contract was terminated on November 29, the 60 days would be exceeded, but it's not clear exactly when the countdown started and when it expires.

So, don't be surprised if, in the coming days, we learn that Perry is appealing the Blackhawks' decision. One thing is certain, even though he seemed very remorseful, Perry doesn't believe that Chicago had a valid reason to cut his salary.
