Michael Pezzetta explains why players don't want to sign with the Canadiens
Montreal Canadiens forward Michael Pezzetta recently caused a stir by expressing his concerns about taxes in Quebec during an episode of the Cam and Strick Podcast in the United States.
According to him, taxes are too high in Quebec, and he made some controversial statements on social media.
Many people were shocked by the turn of events, especially since he spoke "against" Montreal during a recording in the United States. Some believe that this shows that Pezzetta doesn't really understand the situation in his adopted city.
"Pezz was a guest on the Cam and Strick Podcast, a US-based hockey podcast. He talked about several topics, but one clip has been getting a lot of reactions lately.
In fact, it's a discussion around the tax rate in Montreal that's at the heart of the matter. The Canadiens' forward is asked what he thinks about it, and his response didn't get unanimous agreement:
"It's crazy. We're taxed at 54%, plus 4% escrow for agents." - Michael Pezzetta
Many people have criticized Pezzetta for his attitude, believing he's not justified in complaining about taxes while benefiting from very favorable conditions. Others have pointed out that professional players, including their agents, often find ways to minimize their taxes.
However, it's important to note that Pezzetta is not the first player to criticize Quebec taxes, and some of his statements may have made sense. But the way he expressed his feelings may have created more problems than he intended to solve.
