After all, it's hard to argue otherwise when Sean Farrell has dominated wherever he played during his journey through the junior and collegiate ranks. The Tricolore's prospect was indeed very solid with the Chicago Steel in the USHL, amassing an impressive total of 44 goals and 113 assists (157 points) in 97 encounters. He then excelled with Harvard University, scoring 30 goals and 51 assists (81 points) in 58 games, thus demonstrating that he had very promising potential.
His excellent performances notably earned him a chance to be called up to the main team at the end of the last season, making his debut in the national league. Although he had some difficulties standing out in the NHL, Farrell still showed good offensive flashes, scoring his first goal in the professional ranks, and that in his first game with the Canadiens.
However, measuring 5'9" and weighing only 174 pounds, the forward sometimes seemed unable to win his one-on-one battles along the boards. However, despite pursuing his studies this summer, where he notably graduated from university, the CH's forward confirmed to Anthony Martineau that he had worked extensively in the gym to add muscle mass to his frame.
Wow! It's excellent news to see that Sean Farrell is aware of the aspects he needs to improve and is actively working to become a better hockey player. There's no doubt that the Canadiens have a highly talented prospect who could significantly help the team in a few years if he continues his progression.
Although he played six games with the Tricolore last year, it would be quite surprising to see him start the season in Montreal. He will have the opportunity to benefit from a lot of playing time with the Laval Rocket to perfect his learning and eventually provide serious assistance to the Montreal organization.
One thing is for sure, Farrell seems confident in his abilities, and we are all very eager to observe his progression throughout the season. Moreover, he could potentially play a few games with the main team if some players suffer injuries.
We strongly invite you to read the excellent column by Anthony Martineau on this subject, who had the opportunity to chat with the Tricolore's prospect.
