A disgraceful moment at the Heritage Classic: A total lack of respect from an Edmonton Oilers fan
No matter the occasion, there always seems to be that one joker in the crowd looking to grab attention when it's completely inappropriate. During the current Heritage Classic, as the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames faced off in an outdoor game, one Oilers fan managed to spoil a very important moment because of his desire for a little attention.
Indeed, this is the Heritage Classic, the first event of its kind this year. Last night, we received the tragic news of the untimely death of Adam Johnson, who was struck in the neck by a skate blade and succumbed to his injury. When an athlete dies in the course of their duties, it affects all other athletes who practice the same sport, and many more.
The organizers paid tribute to Johnson and followed it with a moment of silence. However, one "idiot" decided that it was the right moment to shout "Let's go Oilers" and disrupt the moment.
Considering the significance of this moment of silence for the entire hockey community, from players to fans, to Johnson's loved ones, it's simply disgraceful behavior.
