Breaking News: Major Changes Coming to the NHL
The NHL is trying to find ways to liven up the games and make them even more exciting for fans. A meeting was held among the general managers in Toronto, where they discussed potential solutions.
Since they can't reinvent the wheel during the games, they are trying to make overtime even more electrifying. While it's already exciting, teams have adapted, and it's increasingly common to see players control the puck for extended periods, even minutes, without taking a shot on goal.
The NHL is looking to improve this by drawing inspiration from the NBA. Among the topics discussed are adding a shot clock and preventing players from reversing beyond the red line.
"Among the topics discussed by the GMs in Toronto, they aim to find a way to liven up the overtime periods. They're talking about scenarios like preventing players from reversing beyond the red line and adding a shot clock, as seen in basketball."

This would eliminate the impact on goalies in these situations, as players often pass to them when they have no other option.
What makes 3-on-3 play spectacular is when it goes back and forth, chance after chance to score, and we're seeing that less and less often.
