For many observers and experts, Lane Hutson is the Montreal Canadiens' top prospect. In 54 career games in the NCAA, the young defenseman has amassed 68 points, a historic feat at the age of 19.

Hutson's offensive production surpasses that of Adam Fox, Cale Makar, and Quinn Hughes at the same age in the same league. This gives you an idea of the gem that the Canadiens have in their hands.

In addition to earning defenseman of the month titles and various honors, Hutson will be part of Team USA at the upcoming World Junior Championship. We are discovering his leadership qualities as he has been named assistant captain.

Cutter Gauthier, Gavin Brindley, and Ryan Chesley will accompany him in this role, while Rutger McGroarty will be the captain.

For several years, the NCAA has received high praise and is even considered the best development league in the world. Many excellent Canadian prospects, like potential future first overall pick Macklin Celebrini, choose this league even if they are not American.

The United States is the favorite to win gold this year, but don't count Canada out. There is always a lot of talent in that team.
