Canadiens' acquisition and a smart move by Kent Hughes: an underrated forward has joined the organization with Emil Heineman
While the Canadiens were going nowhere during the 2021-22 season, Marc Bergevin was fired, and Kent Hughes was hired a few months later.
The new GM's first move was the Tyler Toffoli trade, and the return included Filip Mesar and Emil Heineman.
While Mesar is currently tearing it up in the OHL, Heineman is ready to make the leap to the NHL, and he is playing his first career game as of writing.
We're talking about an underrated player who has the ability to score many goals. It wouldn't be surprising if he secures his place with the Habs with this call-up.
His specialty is the same position as Cole Caufield, but on the right side. He scores plenty of goals with one-timers from that spot, and he is very responsible defensively.
The future will tell us if Heineman is indeed the player he has the potential to become, but one thing is for sure, this could turn out to be quite a steal by Kent Hughes.
