Another bad news for Shane Wright
The development management of Shane Wright by the Seattle Kraken has been questionable since his selection in 2022. Initially in the NHL and left out more often than not, he was sent to the American Hockey League (AHL), and then to the junior league.
This year, he started in the AHL and is having a good season. However, the team recalled him for no apparent reason, sent him back to the AHL 18 hours later, and now they are preventing him from going to the World Junior Championship.
"I don't understand why Zach Benson and Shane Wright weren't loaned to Team Canada Junior. Benson plays for a bottom-tier club, and Wright is playing in the AHL. It would have been good for their confidence to go dominate the tournament, it seems!" - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin It is indeed incomprehensible. The Kraken clearly does not want him in the NHL, and he could go dominate and gain confidence at the World Juniors, but no.
It can be unequivocally stated that if Wright becomes a star in the NHL, he will have fully earned his status.
