Defenseman Arber Xhekaj officially recalled by the Montreal Canadiens: It will happen way before the end of the season according to Eric Engels
When Arber Xhekaj was reassigned to Laval, Jayden Struble was already on everyone's minds. The strong connection led to speculation that number 47 was his replacement, triggering trade rumors.
Increasingly, it appears that the sheriff is still part of the Canadiens' plans, and the organization truly wants him to refine his game to come back stronger.
On this matter, Sportsnet journalist Eric Engels made a significant statement about the date of his return:
"The Canadiens haven't set a limit on the number of games Xhekaj will play with the Laval Rocket, but that doesn't mean his time in the AHL is unlimited. He must continue to work and progress, and as long as he does, I expect him to be back in Montreal well before the end of the season."
This implies that despite the congestion on the CH blue line and the arrival of Lane Hutson towards the end of the season, Engels still anticipates Xhekaj's recall.
The future will tell if he is right, but one thing is certainfans will be delighted to see him back wearing the Tricolore jersey!
