Now, if you're asked who the second-best forward on the Habs has been for a little over a month, the name Juraj Slafkovsky comes up very often, and rightfully so.
The Slovak has progressed unexpectedly and shows no signs of slowing down; he's consistent. It's a real joy to watch him play over the past twenty games.
His production is starting to unlock as well, which is well-deserved considering the effort he puts in every time he's on the ice. In short, he's dominant, and he's increasingly becoming a part of opponents' game plans.
Recently, during an appearance on BPM Sports, Mathias Brunet posed a question to host Greg Lanctot. This question left us in awe, but it's very legitimate.
Caufield has scored in three consecutive games, with a 4th unofficially in a shootout against the Rangers. He has two game-winning goals in this stretch, making him crucial to the team.
Despite that, Lanctot would keep Slafkovsky over Caufield, and many people share his opinion. We can clearly see Slafkovsky's trajectory and how much more he can progress. It's almost scary to imagine him at his full potential, something we couldn't do back in November.
