Huge statement from Jake Allen about Samuel Montembeault, which aids Kent Hughes and the Canadiens in their decision
Being three goalies on a team is no easy situation. The main reason it's complicated is that no one is accustomed to this scenario.
For Jake Allen, there is a positive aspect to it. Goalies get more rest, and that can make a difference. However, the major point from a recent statement he made comes from what he said about Samuel Montembeault.
"I think once we realized that it was going to happen, towards the end of camp and throughout the year - internally, we knew it wasn't going to be a short-term thing - we just had to accept it for what it is and deal with it," said Allen. "I really thought that Cayden (Primeau) had a great training camp, Sam (Montembeault) obviously proved that he's an elite goalie in this league, so you just have to have a good perspective on things."
"But I also think it's been beneficial for us. As goaltenders, individually, we've played pretty solidly so far this year. We had to find ways to take advantage of it. We have more time to practice, a guy gets a break and a night off, it allows you to refresh mentally. It's something new for all of us, but you have to handle it the right way."

Indeed, the veteran goalie believes that Monty belongs to the elite of the NHL, nothing less. He practically just told Kent Hughes to sign him and keep him, indirectly.
With Cayden Primeau's recent performance, it wouldn't surprise me if number 34 is the goalie sacrificed by the Canadiens.
