For several weeks, rumors have been circulating, and according to well-connected insiders like Elliotte Freidman, Darren Dreger, and Frank Seravalli, it's only a matter of time before a transaction involving a goalie between the Canadiens and the Oilers is confirmed.

However, there might be a change in this situation that could immediately put an end to the rumors, and it involves a former Canadiens player.

Indeed, Corey Perry was scratched for Wednesday night's game. Head coach Luke Richardson mentioned that it was an organizational decision, while this morning it was simply stated that he was a healthy scratch.

That's already a bit suspicious, but now it has taken an even stranger turn. Perry and goaltender Peter Mrazek are not at practice today.

The Oilers, who have a pressing need for a goalie and leadership, could potentially make a double move by acquiring both these players. Jack Campbell could then head to Chicago along with other assets.

This is what's currently circulating, but they are just rumors for now. One thing is certain: it's worth keeping an eye on Corey Perry's situation, as he might be on his way out of Chicago.
