Logan Mailloux ignored by the Canadiens: the reasons are revealed
Logan Mailloux came close to defying the experts and starting the season in Montreal, but he was sent down just before the end of the camp. Nevertheless, he left a strong impression.
With 7 points in his last 7 games and a much-improved record, it can be said that he is turning things around, much like the entire team.
The Canadiens recalled two defensemen in recent days, but there's no sign of Mailloux on the horizon. This decision by the Canadiens sparked a lot of discussion, as everyone seemed to agree that he would be the first to get a call-up to the main squad if needed.
Indeed, Mattias Norlinder and Jayden Struble are with the team in California, and Stéphane Leroux explains why.
"Jayden Struble gets his first call-up
Certainly the best defenseman for the Rocket so far this season
This stat doesn't tell the whole story, but let's say this explains that
Struble +4
Trudeau -4
Mailloux -10
Norlinder -15"

On merit, Struble has every reason to be there. He has been very solid and consistent since the beginning, as demonstrated in his first career game on Wednesday night against the Ducks.
Norlinder doesn't have a very favorable plus/minus, but it's worth noting that he is there as a substitute, and it's by no means certain that he will play. The organization likely preferred to have Mailloux play with the Rocket rather than have him sit on the bench.
