Incredible statement about Kent Hughes: The general manager of the Montreal Canadiens has quite a track record
It was on Thursday that we celebrated Kent Hughes' two-year anniversary as the general manager of the Canadiens. The team didn't give him a gift, suffering a bitter defeat against the Senators, but journalist Anthony Martineau wanted to highlight the excellent work he has done.
Hughes was a player agent throughout his career, so he was initially underrated upon his arrival. Nevertheless, his track record is very impressive.
"Kent Hughes, in 2 years as GM:
Matheson (13th highest scorer - defensemen, plays everywhere)
 Dach (potential number 1 center)
Monahan (Swiss Army knife, high resale value)
 Newhook (offensive top 6-9)
All of this via TRANSACTIONS.
In reality. Not in a game."
- Anthony Martineau
All of this comes after Marc Bergevin, who stated that it was very difficult, if not nearly impossible, to acquire a center through a trade in the NHL.
Add to that the numerous draft picks acquired, the selections the Canadiens made... and you have a team that is rebuilding very solidly!
