Major: Sean Monahan's replacement has already been identified, and his arrival will be welcomed
About two weeks ago, the Canadiens played with only three centers due to a shortage. While initially, it seemed there were too many players in that position at the beginning of the season, the team is now facing a shortage.
Injuries to Alex Newhook, Christian Dvorak, and Kirby Dach are not helping the situation. Additionally, Sean Monahan has just been traded.
During his press conference on Friday following the trade of number 91, Kent Hughes identified the player who would replace him.
"Regarding the gap left at center by Sean Monahan's departure, Kent Hughes talks about the imminent return of Alex Newhook.
Also, the auditions of Mitchell Stephens and Lucas Condotta have been successful for the fourth line. So, possible call-up in the next few days." We know that Newhook has resumed training before the break, but he was initially expected to return in early March. According to Hughes, he could come back earlier than expected, which would, of course, be very good news!
