Major announcement regarding Sean Monahan, and it's likely to please Habs fans
As you know, Sean Monahan has signed a one-year contract extension worth $1.985 million annually with the Montreal Canadiens this morning. In fact, we learned wonderful news through Bob Hartley a few hours after this major announcement.
Indeed, the 28-year-old forward has fully recovered from his injury and is already back on the ice to prepare for the upcoming season !
I texted Monahan and he told me he'd call me back later because he was heading to the rink. [] If the Canadiens signed him, it's because Kent Hughes checked with the medical staff and they confirmed that Monahan will be fit for the season. - Bob Hartley
Wow! This is great news for the Tricolore as there's no doubt that Monahan can bring a very interesting offensive contribution if he's in full health. If the 28-year-old forward manages to avoid injuries, he could notably allow Kent Hughes to acquire a first-round pick at the trade deadline, as he would certainly be a very interesting option for several teams before the start of the playoffs.
Listening to Bob Hartley, all signs point to Sean Monahan being 100% and arriving at training camp in exceptional physical condition. One thing's for sure, we can't wait to see him back in action on the Bell Centre ice.
In 25 games last season, Monahan scored 6 goals and had 11 assists (17 points), and was one of the best players in the lineup before sustaining an injury that ended his 2022-2023 season.
