Last-minute controversial decision by Gary Bettman and the NHL
The NHL prides itself on being inclusive, believing that everyone can play hockey, then it removes events that align with this notion. It's hard to understand, but that's how the NHL has decided.
Lately, they rejected a very powerful and meaningful gesture, something that should never be refused, and it's causing a significant reaction.
"A NHL goalie wanted to put a Cancer ribbon on his helmet design as part of the NHL's Hockey Fights Cancer Month. The League told him the ribbon is banned and refused to allow it. Where's the common sense?"
- Allan Walsh
The goalie in question is Logan Thompson of the Vegas Golden Knights. There is absolutely nothing shocking about adding a ribbon, much like the analysts and coaches who wear the poppy.
Truly, the NHL needs to take a different stance on these kinds of gestures.
