Plot twist: Marie-Philip Poulin announces that it's over in Montreal, even though she no longer works for the Canadiens
With young talents constantly emerging in the Canadiens organization, the hiring of Marie-Philip Poulin as a player development consultant was widely celebrated. The world's best female hockey player had arrived in Montreal, poised to be part of the Canadiens' future success.
An adventure that has come to an end
However, her association with the Canadiens proved to be short-lived, as she has decided to dedicate all her time to her role as a professional player in the PWHL.
This announcement was made on the show "Tout le monde en parle" when Louis Morissette asked her if she was still employed by the CH.
"Last night on Tout le monde en parle, Louis Morissette asked Marie-Philip Poulin if the CH was still her employer, if she still had the time.
'No. When I signed, it was part-time. This league that just started allows me to play full-time.' " - Pat Laprade
This decision makes perfect sense, and even though working for the Canadiens was undoubtedly a significant achievement for her, she is currently living her dream in the PWHL. It is truly good news for her and all female athletes. Moreover, she is performing at a point-per-game pace since the season began, and there is a palpable enthusiasm for this new league.
Keep supporting them! Women's hockey offers high-quality play, and they work so hard that they deserve to make a living from their sport.
