The verdict has finally been announced for Brendan Gallagher, and we have the details
We were awaiting the NHL's final verdict regarding a potential suspension. Recall that Canadiens' forward Brendan Gallagher delivered a head hit to Adam Pelech on Thursday night.
We also knew that the suspension would be a maximum of five games, given that it was a phone hearing and not an in-person one.
The verdict is now in, and Gally is suspended for five games.
"Brendan Gallagher of the Canadiens was suspended for five games for an illegal hit to the head of Adam Pelech of the Islanders."
It's truly unfortunate to say this, but it's well-deserved. His action has no place in hockey, and if the victim were a Canadiens player, we would likely demand more.
Gally is not a dirty player, although he is very intense. I don't believe he will repeat such an action.
Jesse Ylonen could make a return to play in the upcoming games.
