Samuel Girard delivers a lesson in courage with a breathtaking testimony
It has been officially announced by the NHL that Samuel Girard is taking a leave of absence from the Colorado Avalanche for an unknown period and is entering the NHL Player Assistance Program.
Usually, we learn in the months, or even years that follow, what really happened. Not this time.
Sam issued a statement himself a few minutes after the official announcement, which is very courageous of him.
In essence, he is suffering from severe anxiety and depression, which led him down the wrong path of alcohol. He has sought help for his recovery and is not afraid to reveal it openly.
It's truly remarkable as a statement, especially at this stage of his journey. He appears determined to overcome this, and all the messages of love and support he receives will undoubtedly help him through these difficult times.
Congratulations, Samuel, hoping that others in your situation follow your example.
Good luck, and we wish you a speedy recovery.
