Shocking statement about Cayden Primeau and the Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens were poised for an interesting year with all players healthy and significant changes made during the summer, which were supposed to help with injuries.
However, after just five games, we were already without Kirby Dach for the rest of the year, Kaiden Guhle for a few weeks, and David Savard for six to eight weeks. The scenario from last year is repeating itself.
There are two games at the Bell Centre on Thursday and Saturday, after which the Canadiens will embark on a trip out West. According to Arpon Basu, Kent Hughes will want to recall a player from the Rocket, and to do so, he believes Cayden Primeau could be placed on waivers by Sunday.
"The Canadiens will want to recall another defenseman before the trip out West in case of injuries, and to make room, Primeau could be placed on waivers.
Ideally, when you leave for (long-distance travel), you would like to have all the extras you can with you. In an ideal world, (the CH) would like Primeau not to be there by Sunday."

It makes perfect sense in the sense that his presence blocks a recall. However, that's not the case. The Canadiens currently have three goalies, 13 forwards, and six defensemen in their lineup, which adds up to 22 players. However, they are allowed 23.
The possibility of Primeau leaving is very real, though. We know that Kent Hughes is receiving calls for him, but I would be very surprised if he were placed on waivers, risking losing him for nothing.
