Indeed, as time goes on, we hear the name Alex Burrows more and more. Some fans are even demanding his head, holding him responsible for the team's failures with the man advantage.
So far, that's okay; people are entitled to their opinions. However, what is unacceptable is when fans chant "Fire Burrows" at the Bell Centre during a Canadiens game. That is simply not acceptable.
Imagine being in his shoes, how he must feel. We understand that people are looking for someone to blame, but the Canadiens' power play wasn't any better before his arrival, and there's no guarantee it will improve after his departure.
Furthermore, the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have a much more potent offensive force than the Canadiens, are ranked lower in a similar situation. Do people in the stands chant the name of their assistant coach responsible for their power play? No.
In fact, the Canadiens are currently ranked 18th in the NHL with their power play. If we translate that to the overall standings and tell you that the Habs will finish 18th in the entire NHL at the end of the year, would you be satisfied? I believe so, because it represents a team that fought to make the playoffs.
