It seems inevitable now: Jake Allen will be traded by the Canadiens; it's just a matter of when and to which destination.

Several signs clearly indicate the organization's intentions to move forward with Montembeault and Primeau, especially considering that Primeau is often the backup goaltender when not in a starting role.

Kent Hughes had mentioned that he would like to resolve the three-goalie situation before Christmas, but it will not happen. It's official as all transactions are frozen until December 28.

A reprieve for Jake Allen

Several teams, including the Oilers, Kings, and the Kraken, are in need of a goalie of Allen's caliber due to injuries. Kent Hughes potentially has one or more partners to trade with, but for reasons unknown, it's still not settled.

We know the great class of the GM. Did he want to ensure that the Allen family doesn't spend the holidays in limbo? Is the opinion of number 34 about his next destination being taken into account?

We don't know the circumstances, but one thing is certain: something is currently blocking or slowing down the transaction.

Stay tuned for updates after the holiday break.
