The brother of Arber Xhekaj, Florian, continues to impress in the OHL and is proving the Montreal Canadiens right
At the latest NHL draft, the Canadiens made sure not to repeat the same mistake that all teams made with Arber Xhekaj, that is, not selecting his younger brother.
Despite the controversial pick, Florian Xhekaj was chosen in the 4th round in 2023. Fresh off a season with 25 points in 68 games in the OHL, there were numerous comments suggesting that Florian may not have the NHL caliber, and he could have been available later in the draft.
In 12 games this season, the younger of the Xhekaj brothers has secured eight points, 20 penalty minutes, and three game misconducts. He is making a name for himself as an excellent agitator and has the ability to contribute offensively, which is a significant asset.
On Friday night, he scored a fantastic goal, then went on to defend his teammates during a scrum. That's Florian Xhekaj for you. He's shaping up to be another enforcer on the ice, with a certain offensive talent.
We don't yet know at which level he will play, but one thing is certain � a player like him is worth gold in a lineup.
