In recent weeks, many Montreal fans have been calling for the Canadiens' general manager, Kent Hughes, to acquire the tough guy, Nicolas Deslauriers.
There's no doubt that the Quebecer could play a significant role within Martin St-Louis' lineup, especially in providing critical support to the young defenseman Arber Xhekaj.
Moreover, during his segment on the "JiC" show, Alain Chantelois suggested that adding someone like Deslauriers would be essential to protect the organization's talented young players and ensure the team garners respect throughout the league.
He further added that the former Tricolore forward would complement the fourth line better than Michael Pezzetta. He's not wrong; Nicolas Deslauriers is known as one of the best fighters in the NHL and can still offer some offensive contribution.
Jean-Charles Lajoie certainly needed no convincing, immediately agreeing with his colleague and noting that Xhekaj was the only Canadiens player who could stand up to strongmen like Ryan Reaves or Milan Lucic.

Worth noting, according to several sources, Kent Hughes was very interested in bringing him back to Montreal in the summer of 2022, but the Philadelphia Flyers' offer was simply more generous.
