When Réjean Tremblay published his column about Cole Caufield, who likes to party quite frequently, rumors about available nannies for players started circulating.

A nanny is a person who follows them around and prevents them from going too far, if necessary. It was said that Cole Caufield needed his nanny.

Then, after the acquisition of Patrik Laine, Pierre McGuire started the rumor that Patrik Laine might also be monitored, which was denied by Luc Gélinas.

The RDS journalist then shared an anecdote about a particular forward who, in a way, had his own nanny, and he was the only one he knew of.

"The only one I saw have that [a nanny] and it was on a voluntary basis, was Scott Gomez." - Luc Gélinas

[The hosts responded, "Come on!"]

"Scott Gomez was in my second book and we had developed a good relationship. He was a bachelor, a seasoned bachelor.

And when the playoffs began, he would kick everyone out of his place, all his circle of friends and company... And his mother would come down from Anchorage, Alaska, and move in with him."

"She managed things and nobody disturbed him." - Luc Gélinas

Furthermore, when looking at Scott Gomez's playoff statistics, with 101 points in 149 games, it's clear that it worked pretty well for him.

It's a very interesting anecdote, but it also shows that this whole nanny story might be going too far. The organization provides players with a resource person, but to say that some are monitored at all times is nonsense.
