In the past, the Canadiens pulled off quite a coup against the Chicago Blackhawks, trading Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischmann for Phillip Danault.

Unfortunately for the Habs, they lost the center's services for nothing in free agency a few years later.

Looking ahead to the upcoming draft, the Blackhawks could do a favor for the Canadiens, as well as the Ducks and the Blue Jackets.

That's according to Scott Powers, who covers the Hawks for The Athletic.

According to Powers, Artyom Levshunov is on their radar, which would leave the highly talented Ivan Demidov available. It would be a twist, but Chicago desperately needs good defensemen.

Powers also believes that the Ducks will go with another defenseman, while the Blue Jackets could select Cauden Lindstrom, a big forward from the WHL.

If such a scenario materializes, Kent Hughes would have no choice but to take Demidov. It would be an unexpected stroke of luck.

Demidov played in the MHL this season and scored 60 points in 30 games.

That's better than Nikita Kucherov at the same age, and unlike Matvei Michkov last year, he doesn't have a KHL contract and can come to North America as early as this year.
