It's well known that Kent Hughes has been involved in several major deals this summer, and he doesn't seem to be slowing down, with the ultimate goal of improving his team.

The Canadiens' general manager has always said, however, that he won't mortgage the future to help the present, which is a very wise approach, and that's exactly what he's doing.

The players he's traded in recent weeks were two young defensemen without much of a future in Montreal, namely Johnathan Kovacevic and Jordan Harris.

A new goalie with the Canadiens?
There's been a lot of buzz on this subject, especially since Elliotte Friedman confirmed that Kent Hughes was in the thick of the race for Yaroslav Askarov.

Adding to that is the fact that the Laval Rocket added a fourth goalie to their roster last week, which clearly indicates that something is in the works.

I'm not sure if there's a significant injury that hasn't been disclosed or if one or more goalies are being discussed in trade talks. With a solid young goaltending duo like Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau, along with Jacob Fowler coming up in the NCAA, I don't see why Kent Hughes would put so much energy into acquiring another goalie.

It also seems that Devon Levi might be on Kent Hughes' radar. We'll have to see what happens in the coming weeks, but there's a lot of noise right now, and a major announcement regarding the Canadiens' goalies could be coming soon.
