With the infamous trio of goalies from last year and the problems it caused, the last thing we expect from Kent Hughes is for him to acquire another goalie.

However, that's exactly what Marc Antoine Godin is proposing, and his reasoning is far from foolish. I must admit, I completely agree with him.

When we look at the start of the Laval Rocket's season last year, it was catastrophic. Young Jakub Dobes performed well, but the duo with Strauss Mann was too inexperienced.

Things changed with the arrival of Kasimir Kaskisuo, but the damage was already done, and Laval did not make the playoffs.

Kent Hughes will surely want to address this issue. Not only do the young players in Laval need to learn how to win, but if there's an injury to Samuel Montembeault or Cayden Primeau, quality backup will be essential.

"The fact that they relied on two rookie goalies at the beginning of the season (Jakub Dobes and Strauss Mann) did not serve the Rocket well, and it's perhaps no coincidence that things started to improve when veteran Kasimir Kaskisuo arrived in Laval.

If the Canadiens can hire a veteran goalie who is both ready to share the task with Dobes in the AHL next season and good enough to step in for Montreal in case of injury, the organization would be killing two birds with one stone."

Several names stand out for this role, including Martin Jones and Chris Driedger. Both have NHL experience but need to aim for the AHL for now, much like former Canadiens goalie Keith Kinkaid.
