Acquisition of the Canadiens: Joshua Roy and Kirby Dach are linked to Necas
It's widely agreed that the most popular names in the rumors surrounding the Canadiens right now are Trevor Zegras and Martin Necas, and for good reason.
These are two young players with great potential available on the market. If Kent Hughes had the choice, offering the same trade package and selecting one, which would he choose?
According to Jean-Charles Lajoie, despite the enticing talent of Zegras, the choice would be Necas.
"There is no doubt in my mind that Zegras' natural talent is superior to that of Necas. But it also seems evident to me that the complete toolbox of Necas is more appealing to the plan of Gorton and Hughes." - Jean-Charles Lajoie
His choice would therefore be Martin Necas, and considering the conservative nature of the Canadiens, I agree with him. The management would probably prefer the Hurricanes' forward.
This observation led the host to predict who Necas could play with, and according to him, there are two possible names, including Joshua Roy.
"My choice would therefore be to acquire Martin Necas, whom I already see making a lot of noise on the Canadiens' second line alongside a healthy Kirby Dach and, why not, Joshua Roy..." - Jean-Charles Lajoie
Roy definitely has the talent to play on the second line. Surrounded by two solid forwards, he would perform admirably. We saw his capabilities last year, which is very reassuring.
Moreover, the Canadiens don't have many left wingers better than him, aside from Cole Caufield.
Imagine the scenario if Joshua Roy plays on the second line from the start of the season, having started his first professional hockey year just a year ago!
