Arber Xhekaj is destroying everything in his path, including a Canadiens record held by Michael Matheson for the current season
In the loss against the Washington Capitals, there was a desire for Arber Xhekaj to demonstrate that he deserves his place in the lineup. The fact that Jordan Harris is injured should serve as an opportunity for him to no longer sit in the stands.
The colossal defenseman has come a long way, notably scoring a goal with a thunderous shot. His game was not perfect, but overall, he did not give Martin St-Louis any reason to take him out.
As for his goal, his cannonball was recorded at 102.2 mph, which is the new hardest shot of the season by a Canadiens player.
The previous record was 100.6 mph, set by Michael Matheson.
Not just an enforcer
We know there is good hockey in Xhekaj, and he is not just an enforcer. He has undeniable offensive qualities, a powerful shot, and good vision of the game.
If he can be solid defensively and avoid turnovers and bad penalties, he will be an asset for the Habs for a long time.
