There is no need to look far to understand the connection between Trevor Zegras and the Canadiens. Even if fans of the Habs are not unanimous about his potential arrival, you can be sure that it is making more and more noise around the NHL.

Indeed, even analysts and insiders who have no connection to the Canadiens and no interest in seeing the forward come to Montreal believe that the fit is perfect.

This is the case with Craig Button, who even compares Zegras to Jack Eichel.

"The last time I heard the talk of 'you can't win with him,' it was with Jack Eichel. [] Like Eichel, I think Trevor Zegras can change the direction of a franchise on his own." - Craig Button

Eichel went from being the leader and franchise player for the Sabres to a laughingstock for Buffalo. A change of scenery did him so much good that he became a dominant player again and won a Stanley Cup.

Everyone in Buffalo said he would never win anything. Look where he is now. If it weren't for Jonathan Marchessault's heroics in the last two rounds of the Golden Knights' conquest, he would have been a prime candidate for the Conn Smythe.

Button insists and signs: Zegras is the kind of player who can change the face of a team when used properly.

"I want Zegras on my team. Zegras is a game-changer, a franchise-changer. [] If this guy is available, I'm calling Pat Verbeek every day." Craig Button

The ball is now in Kent Hughes' court. It's up to him to make an offer that meets Pat Verbeek's expectations to acquire a player who could greatly improve the Canadiens' offense.
