Arber Xhekaj sends a strong message to Martin St-Louis and the entire organization
Sometimes, the best way to convey a message is through actions rather than words. Arber Xhekaj understood this and spoke with the mouth of his cannon on Sunday, at the Canadiens' skills competition.
Indeed, the sheriff unleashed a thunderous shot of 107.2 mph to win the hardest shot competition. He then impressed the crowd with breathtaking dekes during the shootout session.
Following this event, he answered questions from journalists for a long time. Obviously, it was mainly him who animated the show, so the media rushed to him, and he responded promptly.
He sent a not-so-subtle message to Martin St-Louis:
Xhekaj, on his shootout move:
"I'm really confident in shootouts. I always ask the coach to send me (in games)! But we have several good shooters."
And on his performance in the hardest shot:
[Anthony Martineau] asked Xhekaj if the next step was to beat Chara's record.
Smiling, he replied:
"Yes, that's the goal! I didn't even know I was so close to him. He has quite a shot. I knew I could break 100 mph, but not to this extent."
Not only will his shot be an asset on the power play, but he has extraordinary hands, which we didn't know. He demonstrated it well, and we hope the coaches took notes.
