Big changes are already happening for Patrick Roy with the Islanders
Patrick Roy achieved something remarkable by leading the Islanders to the playoffs this season.
While making the playoffs can be considered a mission accomplished, both Roy and his general manager have higher expectations beyond just the first round.
This is why Lou Lamoriello is working hard to bring a notable change to Patrick Roy's roster. As we know, the Islanders' main issue is their offense. They are making strong efforts to acquire Nikolaj Ehlers, whose future in Winnipeg is over.
"Several sources have indicated to The Hockey News that the Islanders have inquired about Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers.
The 28-year-old player, who has one year left on his $6 million per year contract with a modified no-trade clause involving 10 teams, bounced back after a tough 2023-24 season, scoring 25 goals and 36 assists for 61 points in 82 games.
His 61 points mark the second-highest point total of his career, having reached 64 points in the 2016-17 season." - The Hockey News
It is known that Ehlers no longer wants to play in Winnipeg, and pairing him on the top line with Matthew Barzal could spark some fireworks. We truly hope for Patrick Roy's sake that his GM can bring in this type of player to help continue the team's progression.
