Big statement from Martin St-Louis, and he confirms an important decision involving his first line
Martin St-Louis was not very visible during the summer, and that's perfectly fine. However, since his return to the media, he's been very present and generous, as usual.
In fact, the coach was asked by Marc Denis about the composition of his lines, and although he has far more interesting options than last year, he has one certainty.
"I think with their performances last year, especially in the second half of the season, I would be very surprised if this line [Juraj Slafkovsky, Nick Suzuki, and Cole Caufield] doesn't start the year together (unless there's an injury). However, I will definitely have more options at my disposal this season."
- Martin St-Louis We know that power-play drills started last week, and Patrik Laine was obviously the fourth forward, with the addition of Michael Matheson.
It's mainly the second line and the second power-play unit that will be greatly improved. Martin St-Louis didn't want to make a firm commitment, but it's clear to me that Kirby Dach and Patrik Laine will play together.
Now, it remains to be seen who will join them. The second power-play unit will likely consist of Kirby Dach, Patrik Laine, Alex Newhook, Josh Anderson, and Lane Hutson.
