Chicago, Anaheim, and Columbus are set to announce their picks: Demidov to Mtl
We are all excited to see the Canadiens' next draft pick, and according to circulating information, it might be Ivan Demidov.
Former Canadiens scout Grant McCagg reports that many sources in the scouting world can confidently predict the top four picks.
San Jose Sharks will undoubtedly select Macklin Celebrini; that's not even a question. The other picks become very clear after that.
"There are plenty in the scouting world who think Levshunov is going to Chicago and Silayev to Anaheim. Columbus may opt for Sennecke or Lindstrom (took both out to dinner at the Combine). No shortage of intrigue this year."
«I have a strange feeling that Demidov will drop to the Canadiens at five, and they will snap him up. If that happens...I would also love to see them land Yegor Surin. Two of my favourite Russian prospects in recent memory, and giving each of them a country mate to help with the adaptation."
Via Grant McCagg Getting Demidov at fifth overall would be a true blessing for the Canadiens, and if McCagg is correct and two defensemen go in the top four, the Canadiens are sure to have a high-quality forward in their ranks.
It's hard to believe the Blue Jackets would choose Beckett Sennecke at fourth overall, but they might go for Cayden Lindstrom.
The young man is NHL-ready now, and many teams have loved him, including the Canadiens.
Not only is he an excellent hockey player, but he also seems to have a truly endearing personality.
Regardless, with Demidov, the Canadiens would have a player who could become a future Nikita Kucherov, a point-scoring machine.
