We love Cole Caufield in Montreal for his passion, talent, and personality; he is seen as the top scorer of the organization.

We know he can score from anywhere, but he also greatly improved his 200-foot game last season. What is also very important is that he played 82 games.

Getting 65 points in the NHL is no easy feat, especially at 23 years old. Cole is a special player and will be for many years in Montreal. In fact, he is the reason the Canadiens did not select Matvei Michkov.

"Just watched from Gio (big fan btw), apparently Nick Bobrov said in the Recrutes Habs prospect guide that the reason the Habs passed on Michkov could be related to the fact they already have Caufield"

From what we understand, the Canadiens compare the two players a lot, and there's no chance Cole will go elsewhere. It must be admitted that they have a similar build.

The decision not to select Michkov would therefore not be related to his attitude or his contract in the KHL, but rather because the Habs already have a small player with similar skills.

Also, another very simple reason is that they love David Reinbacher. The Austrian was on the radar of several teams, including the Arizona Coyotes, who were picking 6th overall in 2023.

He is said to be the next Moritz Seider, which is very encouraging.
