He was alone in front of the crease and received a superb pass from none other than Evgeny Kuznetsov to break the ice.
Limited in ice time, Demidov is proving to his head coach that he needs to be used more often. However, I doubt this will happen quickly, as SKA has little tolerance for players who want to move on to the NHL.
Just remember what happened with Matvei Michkov last year, when the prodigy was benched and eventually loaned to another team.
As a result, Michkov played only one game with SKA and 47 with Sochi HC. Seeing Ivan Demidov playing every game so far, despite SKA's deep forward lineup, is very indicative of his talent.
Limited to just one assist in his first four games, he has now scored his first goal, and if his coach gives him more ice time, his stats will continue to rise.
Ivan Demidov is quite a hockey player, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with as many, if not more, points than Matvei Michkov did at the same age last year, when he accumulated 41 points.
